Per-person Udaipur trip costs from Delhi NCR for 2026 in three bands, with line items that add up: train or flight, stay, City Palace and boat tickets, Kumbhalgarh day, food.
Quick summary
An Udaipur trip from Delhi NCR costs roughly ₹7,075 to ₹9,950 per person on a budget, ₹12,950 to ₹19,100 mid-range, and ₹43,000 to ₹82,350 on a premium plan (more in a palace hotel). The biggest variables are where you sleep (lake-view rooms charge for the view), how you travel (overnight train or flight), and how you do the Kumbhalgarh and Ranakpur day trip. The breakdowns below are per person, and each band's total is the sum of its line items.
Assumptions behind these numbers
- Starting from Delhi NCR. Three nights in Udaipur: you arrive on the morning of day 1 and leave on the evening of day 4.
- Two people sharing a room, and four people sharing the budget day-trip taxi.
- Off-peak prices. Rooms cost noticeably more from mid-December to early January, around Diwali and on long weekends.
- Entry fees are current published or recently listed rates for Indian adults. Stay and food figures are typical ranges, not quotes.
Budget plan: about ₹7,075 to ₹9,950 per person
Sleeper class on the train, a hostel bed or a basic room a lane back from the ghats, autos and shared jeeps, the public boat, Dharohar, street food, and a shared taxi for the Kumbhalgarh and Ranakpur day.
| Item | Assumption | Per person (₹) |
|---|---|---|
| Train | Mewar Express sleeper class, about ₹450 each way | 900 |
| Stay | 3 nights at ₹500–900 per person per night | 1,500–2,700 |
| Local transport | Autos, plus the shared jeep up to the Monsoon Palace (Sajjangarh) | 600–900 |
| Tickets and activities | City Palace ₹300, Lal Ghat boat ₹250, Dharohar ₹125, Monsoon Palace entry ₹120, allow ₹105 for Kumbhalgarh entry and the Ranakpur camera fee | 900 |
| Kumbhalgarh and Ranakpur day | Sedan taxi at ₹3,500–5,000 for the day, split four ways | 875–1,250 |
| Food | 4 days at ₹500–700 a day | 2,000–2,800 |
| Miscellaneous | Water, tips, small purchases | 300–500 |
| Total | 7,075–9,950 |
A local bus to Kumbhalgarh and Ranakpur in one day is not realistic: the two are about 50 km apart on hill roads, and Ranakpur only opens to non-Jain visitors at noon. If you are not sharing a taxi, do one of the two by bus, or split them across two days.
Mid-range plan: about ₹12,950 to ₹19,100 per person
3AC on the train, a haveli guesthouse with a rooftop, the boat that lands at Jag Mandir, a private taxi for the day trip, and a rooftop dinner or two. A comfortable trip of this kind usually lands around ₹13,000 to ₹15,000.
| Item | Assumption | Per person (₹) |
|---|---|---|
| Train | Mewar Express 3AC, about ₹1,150 each way | 2,300 |
| Stay | Haveli guesthouse at ₹2,500–4,500 a double, 3 nights, two sharing | 3,750–6,750 |
| Local transport | Autos, the shared jeep at Sajjangarh, perhaps a scooter for a day | 600–1,000 |
| Tickets and activities | City Palace ₹300 and audio guide ₹200, Jag Mandir boat ₹600 (₹800 at sunset), Dharohar ₹125, Monsoon Palace ₹120, allow ₹105 for Kumbhalgarh and Ranakpur fees | 1,450–1,650 |
| Kumbhalgarh and Ranakpur day | Private sedan at ₹3,500–5,000 for the day, split two ways | 1,750–2,500 |
| Food | 4 days at ₹700–1,100 a day, including a rooftop dinner | 2,800–4,400 |
| Miscellaneous | Tips, water, small purchases | 300–500 |
| Total | 12,950–19,100 |
Ticket and activity prices at a glance
- City Palace museum: ₹300 for Indian adults, and ₹200 for the audio guide. Open 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, with ticket sales until 4:45 pm.
- Jag Mandir boat (HRH, from Rameshwar Ghat inside the City Palace): ₹600 regular and ₹800 sunset on the published tariff. The tariff ran to March 2026, so confirm the current rate. You also need the City Palace ticket to reach the jetty.
- Public boat from Lal Ghat: about ₹250 for roughly 25 minutes. It passes Jag Mandir but does not land there.
- Dharohar show at Bagore ki Haveli: about ₹125 for Indian adults, camera extra. Daily at 7 pm.
- Monsoon Palace (Sajjangarh): about ₹110–120 entry, plus about ₹100–110 per seat for the shared jeep from the gate.
- Ranakpur Jain Temple: free entry, with a small camera or phone fee. Non-Jain visitors are admitted from noon to 5 pm.
- Kumbhalgarh Fort: a nominal entry fee for Indian visitors.
- Taxi: local operators charge about ₹11 per km for a sedan and ₹14–15 per km for an SUV, with tolls and parking extra.
Costs people forget
- Two tickets for Jag Mandir: the palace ticket and the boat fare, if you want to land on the island.
- Camera fees at Dharohar and Ranakpur.
- Tolls, parking and driver allowance on taxi days, which are usually billed on top of the per-km rate.
- Rooftop dinner creep: three in a row add up fast.
- Miniature paintings after a "demonstration" that turns into a sales pitch.
- Peak-season rates from mid-December to early January.
Ways to keep it down
- Take the overnight Mewar Express, which saves a night's stay at each end. The 2-day Udaipur itinerary is built around it.
- Stay a lane or two back from the ghats. It is the same walk to everything, and quieter and cheaper.
- Pick one boat. The Lal Ghat ride is the cheap way onto the water, and the Rameshwar Ghat boat is only worth it if you want to set foot on Jag Mandir.
- Fill a taxi to four for the Kumbhalgarh and Ranakpur day.
- Lean on what costs little or nothing: walking Lake Pichola and the Ghats at dawn and dusk, and the Fateh Sagar promenade in the evening. A trip to Badi Lake mostly costs the ride out.
- Travel in September, October, November or February rather than late December. The best time to visit Udaipur covers the trade-offs.
- Prioritise. The best places to visit in Udaipur marks what you can skip.
Driving instead?
Udaipur is about 660 km from Delhi NCR, roughly 13 hours of driving, so a road trip usually adds a night on the way each direction. Check your fuel cost with the fuel calculator, and remember tolls and that extra night's stay.
