Disclosure & Monetization Policy
HarshOnRoads is free to use because readers like you explore destinations and book travel through links we share. This page explains how affiliate partnerships work on the site.

Affiliate links
Some pages on HarshOnRoads include affiliate links to booking partners. Our main partner for stays is Booking.com, through its affiliate programme run by CJ (Commission Junction). Where a booking widget appears, it may also link to partners such as Cleartrip or MakeMyTrip.
You'll find these links on trip plans (stays for each stop, with your dates filled in) and on the "Search hotels" buttons on destination, itinerary and guide pages.
Hotels booked on this site
Some hotels can be booked directly on HarshOnRoads. Rooms and payment come from our booking partner LiteAPI (Nuitee). The prices shown include our service margin on top of LiteAPI's rate, and that margin is how we earn on these bookings. The amount shown at checkout is what you are charged; any local taxes marked as payable at the hotel are paid there.
How these links are marked
Links that take you to a booking partner name the partner (for example "See stays on Booking.com"), open in a new tab, and are tagged as sponsored for search engines. Pages with hotel prices or booking buttons repeat a short commission note next to them.
What gets shared when you click
When you click a partner link, Booking.com and CJ may set their own cookies so a booking can be credited to us. The link only tells them which kind of page you came from (for example "trip-stays"). We never pass your name, email address or trip details to booking partners.
Affiliate commissions at no extra cost to you
If you click an affiliate link and complete a qualifying purchase or booking, we may earn a small commission. That commission is paid by the partner — not added as an extra charge on your booking. (Hotels booked directly on HarshOnRoads work differently: see above.)
Why we use affiliate links
Affiliate revenue helps keep HarshOnRoads free to read, funds research trips and content updates, and supports the tools we build for planning trips in India.
How we choose what to recommend
We only link to services and routes we would consider using ourselves. Recommendations on this site are based on personal experience, on-the-road research, and editorial review — not on who pays the highest commission.
If a partner link is present, it is because we believe it is a useful next step for your trip, not because it is the only option.
Partners never pay for placement in trip plans, destination scores, rankings, collection pages or route guides, and they don't see or approve our content before it's published.
