Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information HarshOnRoads collects when you use our website and services, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Last updated: 14 October 2026
Information we collect
We may collect information you provide directly, such as when you use trip planning tools, search, chat features, or contact us by email.
We automatically collect limited technical data when you visit the site, including browser type, device information, pages viewed, and approximate location derived from IP address.
If you use AI-powered features, we process the prompts and context needed to generate a response. Do not submit sensitive personal data you do not want processed for that request.
How we use information
- Operate, maintain, and improve the website and tools.
- Personalise content such as destination recommendations and search results.
- Respond to support requests and communicate service updates.
- Monitor usage, prevent abuse, and protect the security of our platform.
- Comply with applicable legal obligations.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to remember preferences, keep sessions secure, and understand how the site is used. See our Cookie Policy for details.
Third-party services
We may rely on third-party providers for hosting, analytics, maps, weather, hotel search, video embeds, and AI features. Those providers process data according to their own policies when their services are invoked.
When you click a booking link, you go to the partner's site (such as Booking.com, through the CJ affiliate network), and their privacy policy applies from there. See our Disclosure & Monetization Policy for what is shared.
Embedded content from platforms such as YouTube or Instagram may collect data directly from you under their terms.
Trip reminders
If you ask for a reminder before a trip, we store your email address and start date and send one email two days before, with the weather forecast and road notes. Every reminder has a link to stop it. We don't use the address for anything else, and we delete reminders within 90 days of the trip.
Hotel bookings made on this site
When you book a room on HarshOnRoads, the guest name, email address and phone number you enter are sent to our booking partner LiteAPI (Nuitee) and on to the hotel so the reservation can be made and confirmed. Card details are entered in LiteAPI's secure payment form and never reach our servers.
When you enter guest details at checkout, we store them with the room hold so the booking can be completed after payment, even if you return from your bank in another browser. If no booking results, these details are deleted after 90 days. Once a booking is confirmed, we keep a record of it (hotel, dates, price, and the guest name, email and phone) so we can send your confirmation, let you cancel, and help with problems. We keep booking records for three years for accounting, then delete them.
Your confirmation email contains a private link to your booking. Anyone with that link can view or cancel the booking, so don't share it. Opening the link, or booking from a browser, sets a signed cookie that lets that browser reopen the booking for up to a year.
Data stored on your device
When you create a trip, a cookie in your browser remembers that you made it, so only you can edit it before you save it to an account. It lasts up to 90 days.
Trips you open are also kept in your browser's storage so they work without signal. This copy stays on your device, and you can remove it by clearing site data in your browser.
If you vote on the days of a shared trip, a cookie with a random ID (no name or email) remembers your votes so you can change them. It lasts up to a year.
Data retention
We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes described above, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data.
To make a privacy request, email harshonroads@gmail.com. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision.
