Nainital Trip Cost from Delhi: Budget, Mid-Range and Premium

Quick summary

A Nainital trip from Delhi NCR costs about ₹3,900–5,700 per person on a budget, ₹8,000–10,500 mid-range and ₹19,500–28,000 premium, for 3 days and 2 nights. A typical mid-range trip lands at about ₹9,000. The single biggest variable is the room: the same hotel can cost much more in May, June, Diwali week, Christmas–New Year and on long weekends than on an ordinary November weekend.

Assumptions

  • Per person, 3 days and 2 nights, starting and ending in Delhi NCR.
  • Two people share a room; four people share a car in the mid-range plan.
  • Off-season or shoulder-season prices (February–April, October–November, outside holidays). In peak season, add 50–100% to the stay line.
  • Train fares, fuel, tolls, room rates, food and boating figures are estimates. They are not quoted fares, so check IRCTC, the hotel and the rate boards on the day.
  • Verified fixed charges used: ropeway round trip ₹190 for adults (district listing) and the ₹50 forest entry fee for Tiffin Top and China (Naina) Peak introduced in 2024.

Fixed charges and typical prices

  • Snow View ropeway: ₹190 adult and ₹120 child (3–12) for a round trip, according to the district listing; runs roughly 10 am–4 pm.
  • Tiffin Top and China (Naina) Peak: forest entry fee of ₹50 per person, introduced in 2024; confirm the current rate at the gate.
  • Boating on Naini Lake: rowing and pedal boats are priced on official prepaid boards at Mallital and Tallital. Expect a few hundred rupees per boat, and pay only the board rate.
  • Naina Peak, Snow View on foot, Thandi Sadak, the Mall Road: free apart from the forest fee above.

Costs people forget

  • Shuttle fares and lost time if your vehicle is stopped at the Rusi bypass or Narayan Nagar on a peak day. A hotel with its own parking avoids most of this.
  • Hotel parking charges in the Mall Road area, where space is scarce.
  • Room heaters in winter, which some properties charge for separately.
  • Pony rides to the viewpoints; agree the price at the official stand before you start.
  • Peak-season minimum stays at popular hotels on long weekends.

How to keep it down

  • Travel in February, March, early April, October or November on an ordinary weekend.
  • Take the overnight Ranikhet Express and a bus or shared cab up, and save a night's stay.
  • Fill the car with four people and estimate your fuel with the fuel calculator.
  • Walk to Snow View instead of taking the ropeway, and stay in Tallital, Bhimtal or Pangot rather than on the Mall.
